Staryou ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it when you use the Staryou platform.

1. Information We Collect

When you use Staryou, we may collect the following information:

Name: Your name, which you provide when completing the Staryou assessment. This is used to associate your assessment with your Staryou identity and personalize your profile experience.

Email address: Your email address, which is required when completing the assessment. We use it to provide access to your Staryou result/profile and to communicate relevant information about your Staryou experience.

Quiz responses: Your answers to the 30-question SHINE assessment.

Results data: Your calculated Creator Archetype, SHINE dimension scores, and other information generated from your assessment responses.

Assessment history: When you retake the assessment, Staryou may retain previous assessment records so that you can view your Result History and compare your previous results with your current result.

Staryouth Number: Staryou assigns a Staryouth Number to a user's Staryouth identity. This number is used as a continuing identity identifier within the Staryouth movement and is not the same as an assessment result or Creator Archetype.

Payment information: Payments for Pro access are processed through Paystack. Staryou does not store your payment card details.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

calculate and display your Staryou Creator Archetype and SHINE results;
provide your personalized Staryou profile;
maintain your assessment history when you retake the assessment;
identify your current assessment/profile;
provide access to your current and relevant historical results;
personalize your Staryou profile experience, including your name, Creator Archetype and Staryouth Number;
send your Staryou result/profile access link by email;
send relevant insights and information about your Creator Archetype and Staryou profile;
send your Pro profile link after successful payment;
provide profile-retrieval emails when you request access to an existing Staryou profile;
improve the Staryou platform, user experience, and Creator Archetype framework;
maintain the security, reliability, and functionality of the Staryou platform;
understand how users interact with Staryou and improve the platform over time.

We do not use your information to sell your personal data to third parties.

3. Assessment History and Staryouth Identity

Staryou allows an existing user to retake the assessment.

When you retake the assessment, your new assessment is treated as a separate assessment record while remaining associated with your existing Staryou identity.

Your current assessment determines your active Creator Archetype and current profile.

Staryou may retain previous assessment records as part of your Result History so that you can view historical results.

Your Staryouth Number represents your continuing Staryouth identity and is not replaced simply because you retake the assessment or receive a different Creator Archetype.

4. Data Storage

Quiz responses, assessment results, assessment history, identity information, and related profile information are stored in a secure database.

Your name and email address are stored so that Staryou can associate your assessment records with your Staryouth identity and provide access to your profile and assessment history.

We take reasonable measures to protect the information stored within the Staryou platform.

5. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

We may share or process information with service providers that are necessary for operating Staryou, including:

Paystack: To securely process payments for Pro access.
Resend: To deliver Staryou emails, including result/profile access emails and relevant Staryou communications.
Supabase: To securely store and manage Staryou data.

These service providers process information as necessary to provide the services they provide to Staryou.

6. Your Rights

You may contact us if you want to:

request access to information associated with your Staryou profile;
request correction of inaccurate personal information;
request deletion of your personal data; or
ask questions about how your information is used.

Where assessment history or other records are retained for legitimate operational, security, legal, or analytical purposes, deletion requests will be handled in accordance with applicable requirements and the way Staryou's systems legitimately need to retain information.

7. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Staryou may use basic cookies, local storage, session mechanisms, or similar technologies to maintain your session and help the website recognize your current Staryou profile or assessment state where technically appropriate.

These technologies may also be used to support essential website functionality.

Staryou does not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels for advertising purposes.

8. Children

Staryou is intended for users aged 16 and above.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
