The SHINE Framework
How Staryou discovers your Influence Archetype.
Where SHINE Comes From
The Lineage
In 1921, the psychologist Carl Jung published Psychological Types. It was the work that first proposed something radical for its time: that fundamentally intelligent, thoughtful people can look at the exact same situation and arrive at genuinely different conclusions, not because one of them is wrong, but because they are built to perceive and process the world differently.
Jung mapped this difference along two dimensions. First, where a person's energy naturally flows: outward toward the external world, or inward toward their own internal experience. Second, the mode a person relies on most to engage with reality: through logical analysis, through subjective value and feeling, through concrete sensory experience, or through pattern and possibility sensed ahead of explanation.
He believed every person develops one of these modes as dominant, and, just as importantly, leaves its opposite underdeveloped. That underdeveloped side, he argued, is not a flaw to hide. It is where a person's real growth work lives.
What Came After
In the 1920s, Katharine Cook Briggs discovered Jung's writing and, together with her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers, built a practical questionnaire to help people identify their preferences based on his theory. Neither woman was a trained psychologist. What they built, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, became one of the most widely used personality tools in the world, and also one of the most debated inside academic psychology, largely because of how it forces continuous human tendencies into strict either-or categories, and because people's results don't always hold steady when retested.
We say this plainly because we think an honest account of where an idea comes from is worth more than a flattering one.
How SHINE Is Different
Built For a Different Question
SHINE shares Jung's basic architecture: bipolar spectrums, a dominant lean, and the belief that self-understanding should point toward growth, not just description. Our Impact dimension, Feel versus Think, sits close to Jung's original Feeling-Thinking axis, asking a similar question about how a person processes and moves the world around them.
But SHINE was built to answer a question none of these earlier frameworks were built to ask: not who are you in general, but how are you naturally built to influence, specifically inside the realities young Nigerians face today.
Instead of resolving to an abstract code (four letters that mean nothing until someone explains them to you), SHINE resolves to a name. The Vibe. The Griot. The Champion. Human beings recognise themselves in story and identity faster and more completely than they recognise themselves in a percentage combination. That was a deliberate choice, not an accident of simplicity.
On Accuracy and Repeatability
SHINE wasn't built through decades of population research the way the largest instruments were; it was built by observing how real Nigerians built influence, voice, and income online, and testing it repeatedly until it held.
Its accuracy is not a claim we ask you to take on faith. It is something you can check for yourself the moment you read your result. And because personality is not entirely fixed (people grow, and shift, and become), a good framework should hold up not just once, but when you return to it in a different season of your life and find it still describes something true.
What SHINE measures
SHINE is a five-dimension psychometric framework. Each dimension captures a different aspect of how you naturally create, share, and build influence online.
You answer 30 questions, 6 per dimension. Your answers are scored and your results are matched against 13 Influence Archetypes, each representing a distinct way of building influence in the Nigerian digital space.
The five dimensions
How visible do you want to be? Some people are built for the spotlight. They come alive when they are seen and heard. Others do their most powerful work quietly, building influence through depth rather than visibility. Stage measures where you naturally fall on this spectrum.
What drives your creative motivation? Some people are fuelled by the people they want to reach: their audience, their community, their connection. Others are driven by the ideas they want to explore. Heart measures whether human connection or intellectual vision is your primary creative fuel.
How do you want to change people? Everyone influences differently. Some want their audience to feel something deeply. Others want to shift how their audience thinks and sees the world. Impact measures the kind of change you were built to create.
How do you create? Some people capture life as it happens: spontaneous, instinctive, in the moment. Others build their content with intention: researched, deliberate, and refined before sharing. Nature measures whether your creative process is instinctive or intentional.
Where does your creative power come from? Some people are energised by community, conversation, and collective energy. Others do their best work in solitude, building something deeply personal that others discover later. Energy measures whether your creative power flows from connection or from independence.
The 13 Influence Archetypes
Your answers across all five SHINE dimensions are matched against 13 Influence Archetypes, each representing a recognisable and specific way of building influence in the Nigerian digital space.
The 13 archetypes are:
- ⚡The Spark
- 📖The Griot
- 🎓The Professor
- 🎭The Performer
- 🌍The Voice
- 💎The Curator
- 🤝The Connector
- 🌊The Vibe
- 💡The Builder
- 🧘The Anchor
- 🃏The Jester
- 👑The Icon
- ✊The Champion
These archetypes were developed specifically for the Nigerian context, built by observing how Nigerians build communities, audiences, and careers online.
What your result actually means
Your archetype is not a box. It is not a rigid category or a fixed label. It is a starting point: an accurate reflection of how you are naturally wired to influence others, designed to give you language for something you may have always felt but never had words for.
Your SHINE scores show how strongly you lean toward each side of every dimension. The closer to the edge, the more defining that trait is for how you create. A score near the centre means you move fluidly between both sides: its own form of creative power.
No archetype is better than another. Each one has a specific kind of influence it is built to create. The goal of Staryou is to find yours and give you a clear path forward.
Influence doesn't discriminate.
It belongs to anyone willing to understand who they are and build from that truth.
